On the Name
A dhow is the oldest continuous trading vessel in human history — the ship that carried goods, ideas, and ambition between Arabia, Persia, India, and East Africa for over a thousand years. Before container ships, before trade agreements, before borders as we know them, there were dhows.
We chose the name because it describes what we do: navigate between worlds, carry value across distance, and build for journeys that outlast any single cargo.
Founder
Raymond Zhu (朱修颉) has been based in the Gulf since 2015. He joined the founding team of the Dubai Future Foundation and was the only Chinese participant in the UAE's Future Accelerator program.
He has founded, operated, and exited four technology companies across the UAE, Canada, and China — including Machine Colony (AI software, Dubai) and Trade X (B2B automotive, Canada). He studied Computer Science at Xi'an Jiaotong University.
Raymond is a founding member of CASTA, the China-Arab Science and Technology Association.
